Main Purpose of Role

Families can be torn apart by the consequences of fatal and serious injury road traffic collisions, and it is the aim of the Nottinghamshire Safety Camera Partnership (NSCP) to reduce such collisions and prevent injuries to members of the public who use the roads and footways of Nottinghamshire. To achieve this, the partnership undertakes the three E's. Engineering projects to make safety improvements to the road network, Education programs for children, other risk groups and re-educating offending drivers, and Enforcement against offending drivers, referring the same to speed awareness courses, or in more serious cases, prosecution.

Nottinghamshire Police are the prosecuting authority for the local authority safety cameras, and also deploy a number of safety camera vans to support road safety and road casualty reduction.

At all fixed safety camera sites across the County, fatal and serious injury collisions have reduced by between 75%-100% since that system was introduced, and at safety camera van sites, the number of fatal and serious collisions have reduced by between 55%-75%. Thus over the last 15 years, hundreds of lives have been saved, and thousands of people saved serious injury due to these camera systems.

The Senior Traffic Support Officer role is a key role in leading the staff that support this vital function and managing the processes and functions to ensure that the Nottinghamshire Safety Camera Partnership remains effective in its core role to save lives.

The role includes the leading and managing staff within the department and allocation of workloads. Planning the deployment of red light, static and mobile speed cameras. Managing and quality assuring the processing, transfer and integrity of all evidential material generated through such equipment and received through the Dash-Cam portal through to the appropriate disposal.

There are two full-time posts available working Monday to Friday and working 37hours over the week.
