Field Support Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated Field Support Engineer to provide second-line IT support and expertise to educational institutions and select corporate clients across Merseyside. Role Overview:
As a Field Support Engineer, you'll be the primary technical point of contact for a range of clients, focusing primarily on schools and other educational organisations. You will manage IT systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide hands-on support during regular on-site visits. This role also includes opportunities to work on IT projects with corporate clients, offering variety and challenges to expand your expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver second-line IT support to schools, universities, and corporate clients.
* Maintain and optimise IT systems, networks, and infrastructure for reliable performance.
* Conduct on-site visits across Merseyside, providing technical support and IT consultancy.
* Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently.
* Support and configure IT solutions, including cloud platforms (Office 365, Google Workspace), server systems (Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), and educational technologies (e.g., MIS, Paxton Systems).
* Work with staff and clients to ensure IT solutions meet their needs and expectations.
* Stay up to date with industry best practices and proactively recommend improvements.
Skills & Experience Required:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in IT support, preferably within educational environments.
* Strong expertise in network management, server administration, and cloud platforms.
* Familiarity with Smoothwall, Aruba switches, and educational IT systems.
* Proficient in Mac management, MDM tools (e.g., Jamf), and print management systems (e.g., Papercut).
* Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
* A client-focused mindset with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
* Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle for travel.
