Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Bespoke Automation

Location: West Yorkshire

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits

A leading provider of industrial automation solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop custom automation systems for clients across the food & drink, medical device, and pharmaceutical industries.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and development of bespoke automation solutions, ensuring efficiency and high performance.

Work with cross-functional teams to deliver turnkey automation projects from concept to commissioning.

Produce detailed mechanical designs, including 3D models, technical drawings, and BOMs.

Identify and implement improvements in automated manufacturing processes.

Collaborate closely with clients to understand technical requirements and create innovative design solutions.

Ensure all designs meet industry regulations and company standards.

Key Requirements:

Proven experience in mechanical design for bespoke automation or special-purpose machinery.

Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).

Expertise in designing motion systems, conveyors, robotics, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.

Experience managing turnkey automation projects from concept to installation.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations.
