Field Service Engineer - Concrete Production Industry

Alecto Recruitment is looking to hear from experienced Engineers who are interested in a Site Based Field Service Engineer opportunity based from Derbyshire.

Serving customers across the UK, you will carry out scheduled maintenance, repairs and installation on the company's range of machinery involved in the concrete batching and production process serving customers such as Tarmac, Aggregate Industries and more.

As such you will work primarily from home travelling to site, with overtime paid outside usual working hours of 07.30 - 16.30. Weekend working is very rare and as such there is no requirement to join an on call or standby rota.

Role Profile

Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on various industrial equipment at customer sites, adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
Carry out installation of new equipment and silos as required at customer sites.
Troubleshoot complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime and ensure optimal performance.
Carry out electrical and mechanical repairs, including troubleshooting control systems, motors, sensors, and other components.
Welding and fabrication as required for equipment repair and modification.
Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential problems and recommend preventative maintenance measures to improve equipment reliability.
Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs, provide updates on repair progress, and address any concerns in a professional manner.
Proactively engage with customers to identify additional service opportunities and generate new business enquiries, contributing to revenue growth.
Demonstrate strong customer service skills and maintain positive relationships with clients to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service reports, equipment documentation, and customer interactions, to ensure accountability and traceability.

Previous experience in a similar role, with a demonstrated ability to repair and maintain industrial equipment, preferably in quarry, concrete plant, wastewater treatment, or heavy industry settings.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment issues effectively.
Proficiency in welding and fabrication using both MIG and MMA in workshop and site environments.
Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients to understand their requirements and address enquiries.
Ability to work independently and efficiently manage time and resources while traveling and staying away from home as required.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record, with the ability to travel extensively to customer sites.
Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and priorities, with a willingness to work on-call and respond to emergency repair requests as needed.
Basic computer skills for reporting and communication purposes, including the use of email, spreadsheets, and service management software.
