Learning Support Assistant - SEMH School

Location: Eastleigh
Position: Full-Time (Monday - Friday, 8:15am - 4:00pm)
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (depending on experience)

About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dedicated team that caters to pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding full-time role where you will provide essential support to students in both academic and social settings. You will work closely with teachers and other staff members to create a positive, nurturing environment where students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

* Assist in delivering tailored learning plans and activities.

* Foster a supportive, safe, and positive environment for students.

* Support the teacher in managing classroom behaviour and facilitating learning.

* Help with the personal care and development of students where required.

* Act as a role model to promote positive behaviour and social interaction.

Key Requirements:

* Proven experience working with children or young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly SEMH.

* Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.

* Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with complex needs.

* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

* Must be 21 or over, as the role involves supporting pupils aged 11-18.

* A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

Desirable:

* Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).

* Experience in de-escalation strategies or behaviour management techniques.

* First Aid training or willingness to undertake training.
