Our client, a dynamic global engineering firm at the forefront of water sector projects, is expanding its commercial team in Scotland and is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to join their Glasgow office. A background in the water industry is essential.

Operating within the water sector, the business has experienced a series of significant project wins and has exciting growth plans across the UK.  They are looking for an experience Estimating Manager to deliver estimates from first principles, understand client requirements, and identify risks to the business.  You will collaborate closely with the Pre-construction team, the client, stakeholders and management.

Key Responsibilities:

Developing and Managing Estimates: Oversee the estimating process and ensure its efficiency.
Collaboration: Coordinate with teams and disciplines during the project cost/scope development phase.
Estimate Production: Prepare detailed bottom-up estimates and tender submissions based on client drawings.
Target Costs: Develop and update target costs at various project approval stages.
Governance: Conduct due diligence checks to ensure tenders comply with company authority levels prior to submission.
Cost Feedback: Capture actual cost data from project teams and feed it back for future use.
Commercial Advice: Provide senior management with guidance on commercial risks and bid influences.
Supplier Liaison: Work with suppliers and subcontractors to produce accurate estimates and assess terms for alignment with client requirements.
Workload Prioritisation: Organise and support the team to ensure timely delivery.
Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with key stakeholders, including customers and colleagues, to meet business goals.
Requirements:

You should possess a methodical approach, strong interpersonal skills, and the following qualifications and experience:

A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Extensive estimating experience within civil engineering projects.
Proven expertise in estimating for civils, particularly in water projects.
Direct experience within the water industry is essential, ideally covering both water and wastewater, infrastructure, and non-infrastructure environments. Additional experience in other utilities would be advantageous.
Familiarity with MEICA equipment and services used in constructing Water and Wastewater Treatment Works is preferable.
Knowledge of computerised analytical estimating systems.
Ability to assess proposals from the supply chain for MEICA equipment, including scope of supply, technical compliance, and commercial viability.
Competence in interpreting technical drawings, developing baseline cost estimates, and producing detailed labour, plant, and material cost build-ups.
Capability to provide constructive challenges within the Estimating team and the wider organisation.
A full UK driving licence.
