Purpose and objectives:

As a Project Manager/Consultant with Altair, you will manage and execute assignments that deliver sustainable and affordable housing solutions across diverse international contexts. You will coordinate with clients, stakeholders, associates, government agencies, and local communities to ensure successful project completion aligned with our mission to support our clients to enhance access to affordable housing. The role requires expertise in project management, a strong understanding of affordable housing value chain, and the ability to navigate complex, multicultural environments. You must be willing to maintain a high level of flexibility for international travel.

Key responsibilities:

Project Management and Delivery

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of assignments, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Develop project charters, scopes, work plans, and schedules, integrating input from cross-functional teams including associates and in-house Altair consultants.
  • Support consultants with project delivery tasks, including conducting research, writing report sections, editing reports, preparing PowerPoint presentations, and giving verbal presentations.
  • Manage risk assessments and mitigation strategies for each phase of the project lifecycle.Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, providing regular updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction.

Stakeholder Engagement and Client Management

  • Act as primary point of contact for associates, including negotiating contracts, monitoring utilisation and processing invoices.Liaise with finance team to provide project financial performance updates.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication among diverse stakeholders, including clients, associates and other stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners to promote continued cooperation and support.

Financial Resource Management

  • Prepare project budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Track financial performance of projects, preparing reports and forecasts as needed to support project objectives.
  • Liaise with finance team to process invoices and monitor budget utilisation.
  • Document project progress, prepare reports, and communicate findings with internal and external stakeholders.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Develop case studies and lessons learned to support continuous improvement and share best practices within the firm.
  • Contribute to the firm’s knowledge management by capturing insights from each project phase for future reference.
  • Support the Central Bid Management Team in compiling international proposals.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant developments within the international housing market. Prepare and contribute to thought leadership and marketing through research, further study, and attendance at events as required.
  • Support other Altair departments with project delivery tasks when appropriate.

Person Specification:

Education and Personal Development

  • Educated to undergraduate level, with a 2:1 degree or higher in a relevant discipline (e.g. social sciences, political science, international development, urban studies).
  • Educated to postgraduate level, with a master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. social sciences, political science, international development, urban studies)
  • PRINCE2 certificate in Project Management

Skills and Personal Attributes (Essential)

  • Excellent communicator able to present complex messages clearly, both verbally and in writing using verbal, numerical and visual approaches as required.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with ability to interpret data from a range of sources, including both quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Strong relationship management skills, able to rapidly establish trust with clients and colleagues alike.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Good awareness of major trends and issues relating to housing and urbanisation in an international context.

  • Interest in developing specialist knowledge of housing finance and housing policy.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines in a client-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with applied social research and analytical methods.
  • Prior experience in a related field (such as consultancy, international development, housing sector, local government, or housing finance) is preferred.
