Automotive Engine Test Supervisor

Based on site in Bedford (Day Shift, 40 hours per week)

Salary up to £50,000, plus great benefits

A unique opportunity to take on the key role of Supervisor in a class leading testing environment, focussed on IC Engine Testing.

The Engine Test Centre delivers a variety of testing programs from durability, fuels, and additive testing to research projects on prototype hardware. Ranging from downsized passenger car engines with a focus on economy and emissions through to high output units with performance focus. Supported by the Engineering team and reporting to the Operational Lead you will be a central figure in a collaborative and innovative team with a single mutual goal. This role is the adhesive between the Engineering team and the Operational workforce.

What would the Engine Test Supervisor do?

Oversee the day-to-day running of the Engine Test Centre
Provide oversight on the preparation and installation of test samples into our engine test cells
Motivate and mentor team members to achieve and exceed departmental goals
Promote a can-do attitude and a positive working environment
Co-ordinate and allocate resources, including manpower, materials, and equipment to maximise efficiency and productivity
Approve working hours (timesheets) and holiday requests
Liaise with supporting departments, Engineers, and customers on a technical level
Continue and improve initiatives to reduce waste and optimize efficiency
Lead and coordinate operational projects to resolve complex testing requirements
What skills and experience will the Engine Test Supervisor need?

Proven supervision experience
Experience in automotive and/or testing background
Formal automotive qualification / apprenticeship (desirable)
Experience in Health and Safety management, including writing risk assessments, LOLER and PUWER, working at height.
Good knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine fundamentals
Understanding of engine support systems
Ability to work autonomously
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
