MacArthur are recruiting for a successful manufacturing company for this new position of Product Engineer.
This role requires a strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment. Our client needs someone who has both design and the technical aspects of product development. Part of the role is to apply yourself practically when it comes to product compliance, testing and continuous improvement. Along with the design aspects they see it as a balance of creativity and technical ability.
As the Product Engineer, you will be at the heart of their product development process, helping to translate customer needs and design concepts into manufacturable, scalable, and innovative products. Reporting to the Product Manager, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including both the sales and manufacturing teams, with a strong interface with the Group R&D team.
Experience and characteristics that would be useful in the role of Product Engineer :
- Product development processes, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
- Product prototyping, compliance, testing and continuous improvement
- Experience with product lifecycle methodologies.
- Understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles ideally.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Ideally a degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical Engineering or a related field) or equivalent experience.
- Continuous Improvement ideally
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices in product design would be great
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and industry standards would be a bonus but on the job training will be provided.
Key responsibilities for the role of Product Engineer:
- Product Development : Manage qualification and approval process, detailed engineering documentation, work with local suppliers
- Product Compliance and Sustainability : ensure compliance with legislation, Maintain test records / certifications, help improve product sustainability
- Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams
- Prototyping & Testing : Working with the NPI technicians
- Production Support : Provide engineering support through the lifecycle to full production
- Continuous Improvement : Identify and implement design improvements
- Project Management: Manage engineering tasks and timelines within product development cycles.
