WRK digital are delighted to be partnered with a leading web product agency who are creating impactful experiences for high-growth brands, helping them out-perform their competition creatively, strategically and commercially.

The company is ambitious and following a period of growth, we are shortlisting for a hands-on Head of Development to join the team and add value through delivering projects and being their technical lead.

This is an important role alongside a team of strategists, creatives and technical specialists who combine cutting-edge user experience design and technical excellence to build sophisticated applications using the latest web and mobile technologies.

The job

There is an opportunity to work alongside the exisitng leadership team to shape the company's tech stack & team.

The main tech stack currently is PHP using Laravel and Symfony with React and Next.JS for the front end.

You will work with a close-knit team of 4 developers and 16 others in project management, UX/UI design and marketing roles.

Experience to be successful in this role:

- Hands on software engineering experience with Laravel or Symfony
- Ensure the reliability and scalability of platforms through monitoring, troubleshooting, and proactive maintenance.
- Develop high-quality, well tested, scalable code with a focus on re-use
- Responsible for building projects and architecture design
- Create appropriate technical specification documentation
- Oversee the management of our cloud hosting services
- Support new business opportunities as required
- Working closely with Project Management, UX, and Design teams to ensure our projects are scoped and planned correctly
- Work with a skilled technical team of 4 developers

Bonus skills
- React and Typescript
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- CI/CD

Future opportunity:
- Be part of the senior management team to shape the future direction of the agency
- Hiring & interviewing for new permanent team members as the agency grows
- Conducting performance reviews of the development team

Salary & Package:
- Upto £60,000 per annum
- Generous holiday allowance (26 days) plus receive an extra day of holiday for each year of service (up to a maximum of 7 additional days)
