Are you a Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant or an Experienced SEN Level 3 Teaching Assistant?

LTF Recruitment is currently looking for a personable and organised Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HTLA) to join a well-resourced primary school in Rubery. The HTLA will play a key role in supporting students, teachers, and the wider school community to enhance learning outcomes for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) students within the classroom. This is a long-term opportunity, with the potential for the successful candidate to secure a permanent position.

The ideal candidate:

  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Qualification Level 4 (Level 3 TAs with experience will also be considered)
  • Relevant knowledge and experience working with pupils who have SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD, and ASD
  • A strong understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Proven experience in managing a variety of behaviour management strategies, including handling challenging behaviours
  • Previous experience within an educational setting is preferred
  • Experience working in a diverse, inclusive environment

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Deliver pre-planned class lessons to provide PPA cover for the class teacher.
  • Support students with their work and adapt pre-planned materials to cater to individual needs.
  • Supervise classroom behaviour, ensuring students stay focused and engaged throughout the lesson.
  • Collaborate as part of a team to provide learning support for the students of the school.
  • Build positive working relationships with both pupils and teachers, acting as a role model and maintaining high expectations.
  • Provide one-to-one support for SEN students who exhibit challenging behaviours.
  • Offer in-class support for identified pupils, helping them access the curriculum and progress toward targets, including developing skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, and social and behavioural development.
  • Keep records of support sessions and serve as a liaison between teachers and the Learning Support Team.
  • Plan and lead teaching sessions for small learning support groups.
  • Assist the teacher with classroom management and resource preparation.
  • Develop strategies and sessions aimed at enhancing students' learning experiences.
