Does AAB sound like a good fit for you? We currently have an opening for a Business Advisory Group (BAG) Manager to join our Business Advisory team to support its development and growth.

THE ROLE

Business Advisory Group Manager - Edinburgh

You will actively help new clients join AAB and provide services to existing BAG clients across a diverse range of industries and sectors. You will have overall responsibility for a portfolio across a range of services, including statutory accounts, management accounts, and business advisory projects. You will be joining a high-performing team, working with the best in the industry, in an environment built on collaboration, enthusiasm, commitment, diversity, and integrity.

We are currently looking to recruit a manager. Typically, you will collaborate with clients to understand their unique business challenges and complexities, provide a tailored range of accounting and business advisory services, and identify their greatest opportunities so that they can focus on the areas of activity that matter most.

The role will be diverse in nature, and we are looking for an individual who can draw upon their previous skills, knowledge, and experience to provide tailored advice to clients and identify opportunities for other services that can be provided across the wider group.

The role is client-facing and will ideally suit an enthusiastic team player who has a wide range of experience working with owner-managed businesses, providing tailored accounting and advisory services. We need someone who can develop strong, lasting relationships with clients and key decision-makers.


Purpose Of the Role/Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and support the team in all aspects of a client portfolio, ensuring all client deadlines and demands are met by the wider client engagement team.
  • Take ownership of the client portfolio, continue to strengthen relationships with clients and their wider professional network to ensure satisfaction with services provided, working alongside client advisors and identifying opportunities to support clients.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for the delivery of all aspects of client work from start to finish by the client team, in relation to any accounting support required, on budget.
  • Perform accounting work as may be required, particularly work of an advanced technical nature, oversees the finalisation of all accounts, produce detailed reports, and ensure all client queries are answered on a timely basis.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of specialist advisory and project work to clients, which provides specific tailored advice that meets the client's needs, on budget.
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge, undertaking research of new legislation, identifying opportunities for clients, and advising accordingly.
  • Liaise with external advisors (e.g. lawyers or bankers) as appropriate to deliver advice.
  • Coach members of the team and develop their technical knowledge, ensuring work is delegated to the appropriate level to aid the development of the team.
  • Be a vital part of the management team, involved with the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring financial and utilisation targets and deadlines are met, support the leadership group in setting and delivering the strategic objectives of the department.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of GAAP and Accounting Standards - in particular, FRS 102 1A.

Experience and skill set required for the role:

  • Relevant professional qualification (ICAS/ICAEW/ACCA or equivalent).
  • Previous experience of working in a similar role.
  • Experience of handling a client portfolio with strong client engagement.
  • Team player with the necessary interpersonal skills to build professional relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • A growth mindset and continuous desire for lifelong learning.
  • Candidates will be required to have a good working knowledge of clients' accounting systems such as Xero.
  • Experience of supervising staff.
  • Experience of technical compliance and advisory work.
  • Experience in utilising technology, cloud accounting software, and implementing client-driven solutions.
