OverviewInsight Executive Group is thrilled to partner exclusively with North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust to source outstanding candidates for the Hinchingbrooke Hospital Redevelopment Programme (HHRP). This is a truly unique opportunity to take on a critical leadership role in the design and construction of the £800 million Main Build Programme, a flagship initiative to create a cutting-edge smart digital hospital.

We are seeking a Design and Construction Workstream Lead to spearhead this high-profile project. In this pivotal role, you will provide construction and commercial leadership to ensure the successful planning, procurement, and delivery of the Main Build, from conception to completion. You will lead a team of project managers and technical advisors, collaborating across multiple departments and ensuring the project meets NHS Hospital 2.0 standards, sustainability, and Net Zero goals.

Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Design and Construction Workstream Lead, you will be expected to:

  • Strategic Leadership: Oversee the delivery of the construction and commercial elements of the Main Build, ensuring that best practices, tools, and governance frameworks are in place.
  • Operational Excellence: Develop comprehensive governance and risk management plans for the Main Build, ensuring timely delivery of business cases and adherence to national guidelines.
  • Programme Management: Lead the procurement of services and manage all stages of design and construction to ensure delivery within time, budget, and quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the New Hospital Programme (NHP), NHSE, and HM Treasury, to ensure alignment of priorities and successful outcomes.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the £800m budget for the Main Build Programme, ensuring financial performance and reporting are in line with Trust and national standards.
  • Team Leadership: Line manage a team of project managers and technical staff, fostering a culture of empowerment and accountability within the team.

Who We’re Looking ForWe are seeking a senior leader with extensive experience in managing large-scale construction and commercial projects, ideally within the healthcare sector. Candidates must possess:

  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading complex design and construction projects, managing multidisciplinary teams, and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Project Management Expertise: Strong experience in the procurement and management of large construction contracts within government or NHS frameworks.
  • Financial Acumen: Ability to manage multi-million-pound budgets and ensure cost-efficiency while achieving high-quality outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled at building relationships and managing external contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Strategic Vision: A deep understanding of NHS sustainability goals, with the ability to integrate these into the design and delivery of modern healthcare facilities.
