Looked After Children Social Worker - Leeds (£30/hr)

Leeds City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join their Looked After Children (LAC) Team, supporting children and young people in care to achieve safety, stability, and brighter futures.

🔹 Role: Looked After Children Social Worker
🔹 Location: Leeds
🔹 Rate: £30 per hour
🔹 Contract: Full-time | Temporary (initial 3-6 months with possible extension)
🔹 Start Date: ASAP

🧩 About the Role:

As a LAC Social Worker, you'll carry a manageable caseload of children in care, building trusted relationships, attending reviews, and ensuring all aspects of their welfare, development, and planning are met. You'll work closely with carers, schools, health professionals, and families to support each child's journey.

✅ Key Responsibilities:

Undertake statutory visits, reviews, and care planning

Write and update pathway plans for older children

Work in partnership with key agencies and carers

Prepare reports for court and attend relevant proceedings

Maintain accurate and timely case recordings

🎓 Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Previous experience working with Looked After Children or similar teams

Solid understanding of Children Act 1989, safeguarding, and permanency planning

Strong communication, organisation, and report-writing skills

Ability to work as part of a multi-agency team
