Test Engineer - Full time - Salary £41,892 - £48,874 (dependent on experience) - Hybrid Working - 9 month FTC
This role will be based within a team primarily responsible for the testing of cloud-based web applications within the OS Web Estate and supporting back-end infrastructure. Ordnance Survey has a testing community of 70+ test professionals that support each other with regular sessions on test related topics, tools, and techniques - be a part of it!

We are currently looking to recruit a Test Engineer who is passionate about quality and who is keen to build upon their already strong skillset at the cutting edge of Geospatial innovation. You will work as a part of a test team that develops automation to supports the next generation of systems, driving our world-leading geospatial and business applications.
Your development and growth are at the heart of what we do. Once established, you will be working closely in a highly skilled professional team of Engineers, Test Engineers and Architects, championing quality. You will play an essential role in shaping both back/front-end/performance reusable CI/CD test automation infrastructures in a Microsoft Azure environment.
Once established, we would like you to branch out and provide support for our wider test automation challenges.
You will also report to and provide regular updates to the domain Leadership; providing assurance at team retrospectives and planning sessions to ensure best practice, continual improvements and appropriate standards are adhered to.

What we're looking for
If you're interested in joining a team that lies at the heart of what OS is about, we're looking for someone that can demonstrate skills and experience in:
· Proficiency in one or more Object Orientated Programming languages (E.g. Python, C#, Java).
· Experience with JMeter, or similar performance applications.
· Confident with both back-end and front-end automation processes.
· Demonstrable knowledge of continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
· Good knowledge of software development lifecycles. (E.g. Waterfall, Agile).
· Good knowledge of testing techniques and the use of appropriate test tools.
· API test automation experience (REST Assured, Postman).
· Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
· Awareness of geospatial systems, data, and technologies.
· Testing with Azure Cloud and good knowledge of the Azure Portal or Azure DevOps (or similar).
· Cross-browser/compatibility testing experience using appropriate tools e.g. BrowserStack.
· Qualified to Foundation Level in Software Testing (or equivalent experience).
· Experience with security test automation and testing techniques.
· Experience working in an operational support capacity for a production system.
· Prior experience in mentoring and coaching automation skills to others.

Location: We embrace a hybrid working model at OS and understand there is no one size fits all in relation to how we work. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be required to come into for occasional workshops or heads together meetings, approximately once a month, with the remaining time being a personal choice as to whether you work from home or spend more time at OSHQ.
