We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our client in St Helens area.

The position is full time office based, 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday.

The Accounts Assistant will play a key role in supporting our finance department with day-to-day accounting tasks. This position is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Entry: Accurately input financial data into accounting software and maintain up-to-date records.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Assist in processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely payment of bills.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Expense Reporting: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support Month-End Closures: Help with the month-end closing process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Audit Preparation: Assist in preparing documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
  • Communication: Liaise with vendors, clients, and internal departments to resolve any discrepancies or inquiries.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the finance team as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar position.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
