We have been providing project management and engineering-based advisory, consultancy and managed services solutions to UK infrastructure clients for over 20 years. We are a small to medium sized company that has built a strong reputation delivering multi-disciplinary projects and programmes for private and public sector clients. We carry out multi-disciplinary design packages and support clients with turnkey domain expertise in their teams. We are looking for a Portfolio Manager to lead and grow our existing projects, diversify our client base and expand into new sectors.

Role Overview

The Diversification Portfolio Manager will be responsible for spearheading our growth into new industry sectors and expanding our client base. This role will involve identifying, developing, securing and initiating opportunities beyond our traditional TfL and rail client base, driving the diversification of our consultancy business into a broader range of sectors such as energy, utilities, highways, and more. They will also be responsible for maintaining and expanding our current workload with existing clients in our diversification portfolio, ensuring quality of delivery, revenue and margin.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth Planning:

* Develop and implement a comprehensive diversification strategy to expand our client portfolio.

* Identify target sectors and industries aligned with our capabilities, values, and growth ambitions.

Business Development:

* Research and identify potential clients in target sectors and build a pipeline of opportunities.

* Foster relationships with key stakeholders in existing and new sectors, including government agencies, private organizations, and industry associations.

* Develop and support internal proposals, tenders and bids.

* Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership on sector-specific strategies and potential risks. Execute these strategies.

Collaboration and Integration:

* Work closely with our technical teams to align diversification efforts with existing expertise and capabilities.

* Engage with marketing and communications teams to position us as a versatile consultancy partner across diverse sectors.

* Performance Tracking and Reporting

* Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of diversification efforts.

* Prepare regular reports and updates for senior leadership on progress, challenges, and achievements.

Ensuring Quality of Delivery:

* Manage the existing and new contracts to the pre-agreed margin while ensuring client requirements are met.

* Ensure prompt and correct invoicing, ensure overall health of the contract ensuring Contracts, Purchase Orders and Variations are received in a timely manner.

* Identify resource and recruitment requirements, ensuring appropriate resources are available.

* Plan, monitor and control resources to maximise the efficient and effective use of finances and people to ensure that all activities are completed on time, cost and quality targets.

Essential Criteria

* Industry related degree or equivalent

* Proven experience in a consultancy, construction, infrastructure or client organisation in business development, portfolio management, or strategic planning.

* Strong understanding of diverse industries such as housing, utilities, highways, or other infrastructure-related fields.

* Demonstrated ability to identify and secure new business opportunities in competitive markets.

* Exceptional relationship-building and networking skills.

* Outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

* Ability to lead and win new work, including contribution of high-quality content.

* Proven ability to build trust, openness and understanding of multi-discipline teams, ensuring strong communication and collaboration.

Desirable Criteria:

* Experience of developing and maintaining client relationships and key accounts, including securing new work

* An understanding of sector and project finance and funding

* People management experience

* The ability to provide professional guidance and oversight of team members

* Holds a professional membership/accreditation
