Salary: £45000 - £50000/annum

Purpose of the role

Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in accordance with contract specifications, including staff management, recruitment, plant/equipment allocation and all health and safety matters.

Lead and manage the team, who undertake overall supervision of the different elements of the contract(s), ensuring effective delivery of high-quality services and efficient working practices.

Ensure the management teams and service delivery teams agree priorities and work effectively with area teams to achieve optimum levels of service, quality and productivity at all times.

Monitor overall performance of the contract(s) ensuring contract specifications and standards are met, the service continually improves, financial performance improves, excellent customer care standards are met and budget targets achieved.

Be a key client interface providing regular reports on contract(s) operations and performance.

Key responsibilities:

Operations

* Undertake site inspections as required, providing timely feedback to senior management.

* Ensure close liaison and effective joint working with other contractors, e.g. Traffic Management providers.

* Manage the repair and maintenance agreement with the Workshop and central Workshop for all machinery, overseeing repairs and maintenance and prioritising so that downtime is minimised.

* Responsible for all people management processes including recruitment, training, personal development, conduct and capability appraisals, ensuring strict adherence to company policies and procedures.

Commercial

* Deliver the financial budgets in full.

* Actively seek out and develop new ways of working to ensure integrated, effective and efficient services are provided. Undertake comparative analysis on use of machines between teams to assist in round re-configuration and productivity levels.

Compliance

* Ensure strict compliance with all Company policies, including Health and Safety (H&S), Environmental and Quality Assurance standards, HR policies, Fleet policies and procedures. Actively promote best practice throughout the Depot and wider Company.

* Ensure all Company H&S, Environmental and Quality Assurance policies are successfully communicated and that all work is undertaken in accordance with the appropriate risk assessments and complies with H&S policies.

Experience

* Management experience in front line operations, ideally in Grounds and Playgrounds based services in the public or private sector.

* Proven experience of delivering high value service contracts and delivering results.

* Experience of managing a diverse workforce including successfully dealing with conduct and capability issues.

* Experience of training and developing staff.

* Knowledge of the Leeds geographical area.

* Good IT skills, experience with databases and spreadsheets.

* Horticultural qualifications essential.

* Management qualification, desirable but not essential.

* Health & Safety qualifications, desirable but not essential
