Your role

Working in partnership with our Senior Leadership team, you'll be responsible for providing expert advice, support and guidance to the company, our employees and our contractors, ensuring the highest standards.

Specifically, you will:

* Lead and demonstrate a firm commitment to EH&S, fostering a robust and proactive H&S culture across the business

* Develop, implement and maintain E,H&S policies and procedures in line with the company's objectives, KPIs, legal requirements and ISO and industry standards

* Lead the development, maintenance and implementation of all areas of the company's Health & Safety Management System and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

* Review critical EH&S documentation, such as Pre-Construction and Construction Phase Plans under CDM Regulations 2015

* Develop and implement EH&S training programs, promoting a culture of safety and environmental awareness throughout the company and its suppliers

* Manage Connolly's response to any EH&S emergencies and incidents, including investigation and reporting, working closely with operations management to implement corrective actions and preventive measures

* Manage the implementation of equipment inspection and maintenance plans

* Lead the company's EH&S Pre-Qualification processes for new suppliers and contractors

* Ensure all accidents and dangerous occurrences are reported and investigated

* Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, non-compliance, and areas for improvement to ensure corporate compliance with EH&S regulations, internal policies, and quality requirements, developing action plans and monitoring their implementation

* Coordinate SHEQ-related meetings and creating detailed reports for senior management, highlighting trends, potential risks, and recommending solutions

* Serve as the company's main point of contact for EH&S matters with regulatory bodies, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Environment Agency (EA), and other relevant stakeholders

* Conduct, review, and approve H&S Risk Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments, monitoring the implementation of mitigation measures

* Support contractors in the development and management of their method statements, and safe systems of work for all activities within the company operations

* Liaise with contractors and subcontractors to ensure they are fully aware of and comply with the company's EH&S requirements

* Lead and represent the company in external SHEQ surveillance and recertification audits

* Support the development and evaluation of tenders, proposals and service agreements

* Keep up to date with the latest developments across SHEQ as required

About you

To join us as our HSEQ Manager you will need:

* NEBOSH National Certificate or equivalent ideally in Construction

* A minimum of 5 years of experience in an EH&S role

* A thorough understanding of UK legislation relating to environmental, health and safety as well as industry best practices

* Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and their implementation

* IOSH work safely, IOSH managing safely

* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with and influence employees at all levels

* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

* A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Northwest as required

Ideally, you'll also have a Degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Management, and any of the following would also be extremely valuable:

NVQ Diploma in Occupational health and safety practice

Abrasive Wheels, Face Fit, Fire Marshal, CSCS Card

Mental Health first aider

BOHS - management of asbestos in buildings (P405)

CITB site managers safety training scheme (SMSTS)
