About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Offending Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting young people who have come into contact with the criminal justice system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of young offenders, including Pre-sentence Reports and AssetPlus assessments.
  • Develop and implement effective and individualized support plans for young people.
  • Work closely with young people, their families, and other agencies (e.g., schools, social services, police) to address offending behaviour and support positive outcomes.
  • Manage caseloads effectively and efficiently, ensuring compliance with court orders and statutory requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance to young people during the Youth to Adult (Y2A) transition.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all cases.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of youth justice services.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Youth Offending Officer within a Probation setting.
  • Extensive experience in court work, including preparing Pre-sentence Reports.
  • Thorough understanding of risk assessment tools, such as AssetPlus.
  • Experience using Oasys and other relevant case management systems.
  • Demonstrable skills and experience in supporting young people through the Youth to Adult (Y2A) transition.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., Diploma in Youth Justice)
  • Experience of working with specific youth offending behaviours (e.g., gang involvement, serious youth violence)
