Involve Recruitment are in search of a Technical Design Engineer to work on Solar, Battery, and EV charging projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, evaluating, and optimizing integrated renewable energy solutions. This role involves creating electrical design layouts, schematics, and technical documentation while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety, and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in shaping the design of innovative renewable energy systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

Design electrical systems for Solar PV installations, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring schematics, and equipment layouts.

Calculate electrical loads, wire sizing, voltage drops, and select inverters to ensure optimal system performance.

Site Assessments and Feasibility Studies:

Conduct site assessments and technical analysis for solar projects.

Perform technical evaluations and provide recommendations for design improvements.

Compliance and Standards:

* Ensure all designs comply with electrical industry standards.

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new products and technologies, and collaborate with manufacturers to specify electrical components, inverters, switchboards, and protective equipment.

Collaboration and Project Coordination:

* Work closely with project managers, structural engineers, and installation teams to ensure system performance meets project requirements.

* Assist with commissioning and troubleshooting electrical systems to ensure the systems' safe, efficient, and reliable operation.

Permitting and Planning:

* Support the permitting process, including DNO applications and planning requirements with local authorities.

Proposal and Reporting Support:

* Assist in preparing proposals, presentations, and materials for internal and external meetings, conferences, and industry events.

* Support project coordination, monitoring tasks, and deliverables.

Key Skills & Experience:

Qualifications:

* Level 5 or higher technical qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.

* 2-3 years of experience in renewable energy projects, particularly Solar, Battery, and EV installations, with experience in commercial electrical installations.

Technical Expertise:

* Familiarity with electrical codes and standards such as NEC, IEC.

* Strong knowledge of electrical theory and technologies for electrical generation.

* Ability to interpret technical data, evaluate project economics, and assess risk factors.

Software Skills:

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and renewable energy-specific software like PV Syst, PV Sol, and SolarEdge.

* Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and ELEK Design software (advantageous, but not essential).

Organisational and Analytical Skills:

* Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced work environment.

* Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Skills (Advantageous but Not Essential):

* Experience with SCADA systems and solar monitoring platforms.

* Understanding of grid interconnection processes and requirements.

* Experience with grid-connected solar and battery projects.
