You will be working as part of the primary care mental health team at HMP Millsike in York.

SALARY: £29,970 - £36,483 per annum (AFC Band 5) + Benefits

LOCATION: HMP Millsike in York, Yorkshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week

KEY REQUIREMENT: Applicants must be 18+ due to prison-based working AND must hold a valid UK driving licence with access to their own vehicle as travel between sites or locations may be necessary

The post will be subject to a DBS Enhanced with Adults barred check and Home Office Prison Clearance.

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Psychological Wellbeing Practitionerwho has completed the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme, with PWP (BPS or BPBCP) accreditation, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Working as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner you will join the integrated primary care mental health team at HMP Millsike.

As the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioneryou will play a key role in delivering high-quality, low-intensity cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression, aligning with Step 2 IAPT guidelines.

DUTIES

Some of your duties as the Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner will include:

  • Conduct person-centred assessments, manage referrals, and support individuals in their self-management and recovery journeys
  • Deliver guided self-help in both 1:1 and group settings, drawing from CBT principles
  • Collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams, attending meetings, and contributing to step-up and step-down arrangements
  • Ensure accurate data entry and maintain high standards in clinical record-keeping and confidentiality
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, upholding company values.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: Completed the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and hold a PWP accreditation (BPS or BABCP)
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience providing low-intensity, evidence-based interventions in a stepped-care environment
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and databases
  • Experience in a prison setting or with offender populations is beneficial, though not essential
  • Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work-related travel
