Role details

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Audit Senior to join their dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to oversee and execute audits for a diverse portfolio of clients, while mentoring junior staff and liaising directly with clients. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with partners and managers to drive business growth and deliver exceptional service. This position involves both technical expertise and the development of client relationships.

Responsibilities of the Audit Senior

As an Audit Senior, your role will be pivotal in overseeing audits for a diverse client base. You'll be at the forefront of managing junior staff, providing them with valuable on-the-job training. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to liaise effectively with clients, resolving queries, discussing findings, and providing recommendations for improvement. Your keen eye for detail will ensure high-quality review of financial statements and audit working papers. You'll also have the opportunity to assist in preparing audit reports and presentations for senior management.

  • Plan, lead, and execute audits ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant regulations.
  • Supervise and develop junior staff, providing on-the-job training and performance reviews.
  • Review financial statements and audit working papers, ensuring high-quality work and timely completion.
  • Liaise with clients to resolve queries, discuss findings, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit reports and presentations for senior management and clients.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and business development.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial reporting standards and auditing techniques.
  • Assist with the planning and budgeting of audit assignments, ensuring efficient delivery of work.

What the successful candidate will bring

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with strong technical knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards.
  • Proven experience in audit, with at least 3 years' experience in a similar role within public practice.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior staff, with a passion for team development.
  • Proficiency in audit software (e.g., ProAudit) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A proactive attitude with a focus on problem-solving and delivering high-quality results.
