Job Description:

We are seeking a Utilities Site Engineer to join our team, responsible for supporting key aspects of site operations. This role involves a mix of engineering control, safety, quality, and operational tasks to ensure the smooth and safe execution of works on site.

Key Responsibilities:

Task Briefings & Safety:

* Produce Task Briefing Sheets and contribute to the development of the Permit to Dig, including briefing the workforce on safety and operational requirements.

* Carry out associated briefings, safety inspections, and hazard identification.

* Contribute to the development of safe systems of work, ensuring risks are minimized.

* Use the BBV observation app to report close calls and identify best practices for the team.

Engineering Control:

* Responsible for setting out from primary control points provided by others.

* Provide clear and accurate sketches detailing the setting out information.

* Maintain survey equipment, including keeping registers of equipment and ensuring proper testing regimes are followed.

* Be proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, schedules, and specifications, providing feedback where necessary.

Quality Assurance & Records:

* Ensure the supply chain produces as-built and redline drawings, as well as related records, on time and in line with project requirements.

* Review material acceptance documents, upload approvals, and complete Quality Check Sheets in line with the Inspection Test Plan (ITP).

* Assist in compiling documentation for handover, ensuring all information is accurate and delivered on time.

* Maintain precise records, including daily diaries, site photographs, and records of site discussions, and ensure information is uploaded to corporate systems.

* Track project progress and ensure that the supply chain adheres to the ITP, with all necessary evidence collated for handover to the utility undertaker.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

* Valid CSCS Card and a full, clean driving license.

* Strong communication skills to clearly convey safety systems and project requirements.

* Proactive and able to take ownership of tasks, with a focus on effective outcomes.

* Flexible work ethic, with the ability to adapt to unsociable hours or night shifts when necessary.

* Ability to work independently, managing tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.

* Expertise in setting out techniques, including use of level & EDM, and GPS systems.

* Solid understanding of the Permit to Dig system and experience acting as an Authorized Engineer for permit issuance.

* Strong environmental awareness and adherence to health and safety practices on-site.

Desirable:

* Previous experience working in a utilities or construction environment.

* Experience working with utility undertakers and understanding of the project handover process.
