Job Overview:We are looking for a dedicated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our team at Watford General Hospital. In this role, you will assess, treat, and support patients with complex physical and mental health needs, helping them achieve maximum independence. You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver effective, evidence-based care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
- Develop and implement tailored treatment plans that promote functional independence.
- Provide therapy for a variety of patient groups, including those in medical, surgical, and rehabilitation wards.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and strategies to support continued improvement.
- Facilitate safe discharge planning, working closely with social services and community care providers.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, ensuring all documentation meets hospital standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training to maintain best practices in occupational therapy.
Requirements:
- Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the HCPC.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience, ideally with experience in acute or community healthcare settings.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and experience managing a diverse caseload.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in treatment planning and problem-solving.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and a proactive approach to professional development.
