Our client is a successful and well-established manufacturer. They are looking for a Mechanical Fitter / Mechanical Assembler to join their manufacturing team. Responsibilities in short are:

• Final assembly of Transformers, Instruments and Fittings.
• To carry out final assembly pre-test and post-test operations.
• Installation of core and winding assemblies to fabricated tanks.
• Making internal electrical connections and terminations.
• Filling with insulation oil.
• Fitting and connecting ancillary instruments.
• Ensure complete customer satisfaction.

Shift pattern (Rotating weekly) and salary details:

• Monday to Friday 6:00am - 2:00pm, paid at £14.70 per hour
• Monday to Thursday 12:30pm - 10:00pm, paid at £18.38 per hour (no work on Friday)

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS (PLEASE READ):

• Experience of reading, understanding and interpreting mechanical drawings (Essential)
• Crane, slinging and lifting experience (Essential)
• Experience of working on electrical transformers is desirable, but not essential, as training will be given
• Qualified or Apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering would be ideal, but not essential
• Be flexible as the job may involve unsociable hours
• Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions given

Detailed Responsibilities:

• Prepare fabricated tanks to production priority schedule for installation of core and winding assembly.
• Pre-fitting of gaskets, bushings, instruments, conservator, lid, wiring bars, etc.
• Prepare core and winding assemblies for installation to fabricated tanks. Ensuring core and windings are free from damage and debris contamination, and all mechanical clamps and fixings are torque tightened to specification.
• Install core and winding assemblies to fabricated tanks. Ensuring secure slinging of core & winding assemblies and safe positioning to pre-determined dimensions inside the tank.
• Secure core & winding assembly in position and make internal electrical connections.
• Fill fabricated tank with insulation oil. Ensuring that core & winding assembly is totally covered within the specified period of leaving the oven stoving operation.
• Fit the transformer lid assembly and all other ancillary equipment required for test.
• Complete final assembly operations by fitting all remaining equipment, radiators, conservator, and any associated connection pipework, switches, valves, nameplates, etc.
• Periodically, work to tight deadlines and show commitment to get the “job done”.
• Carry out any reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by your direct Line Manager or the Management Team.
