PropRec is excited to be working with a thriving organisation in Telford in the search for a talented Payroll Manager, initially on a 6 month contract with a view of going permanent.  This is a pivotal role within the company's head office, offering the opportunity to lead and optimise payroll operations for a workforce of approximately 500 employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end payroll process for weekly, monthly, and 4-weekly payroll cycles, ensuring compliance with legislation and company policies.
  • Oversee the implementation of a new payroll system, ensuring smooth integration with existing business processes.
  • Act as the primary contact for all payroll-related queries and manage the holiday pay process for employees.
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance teams to streamline payroll, benefits, and reporting functions.
  • Provide detailed analysis and reporting on payroll costs, trends, and anomalies to senior management, including insights into loss-making scenarios such as overpayments or suspension pay.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of statutory payments, including PAYE, NI, pensions, and other deductions.
  • Manage payroll audits, ensuring documentation is maintained for compliance purposes.
  • Stay informed of changes in payroll legislation to ensure continued compliance.

About You

  • Proven experience in payroll management, ideally managing multi-entity payroll processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, with an understanding of GDPR and international considerations being a plus.
  • Proficient in payroll software and advanced Excel, with the ability to handle complex reporting.
  • Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Confident problem-solver, capable of managing complex payroll queries.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to engage effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Previous experience in leading a team and fostering a collaborative work environment.
