Financial Controller

Location: Southwell

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 per annum

Benjamin Edwards are recruiting for a Financial Controller for an established business. Following a rapid period of growth, the organisation is looking for an experienced Financial Controller/Finance Manager/Management Accountant to join them. As Financial Controller, you will report into the Finance Director and MD and be supported by a small team. By owning key areas within the function, this is a rare opportunity to play a key part in developing the role and adding your own stamp.

The role of Financial Controller

• Responsible for the management and financial accounts for the business
• Challenging the existing processes and methods to improve efficiency and enhance controls, helping reduce the time taken to close each month and year end
• Accounts payable management and cash flow forecasting feeding directly into key business decision making
• Involvement with ad hoc project work for use at a Board level in analysing performance
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders and be able to discuss financial information with them as required
• Play a crucial part in the relationship with third parties, including external auditors, taking responsibility for the planning and execution of annual audit cycles
• Assist in developing, leading, and mentoring a small finance team to increase the department’s capabilities and help them build their own Personal Development Plans

The ideal candidate for the role of Financial Controller

• Experienced Management Accountant/Finance Manager/Financial Controller
• A desire to develop leadership skills and/or previous experience managing a finance team
• Direct experience of using ERP systems and Advanced Excel skills are essential
