ROLE: Crime Paralegal - Entry Level

Are you looking for that first role in a law firm to give you a foot in the door and one step
closer to qualification as a Solicitor?

Do you want to do meaningful work on files from day
one and not spend all your time on administrative tasks?

We know you did not spend all those hours, let alone the money getting through law school
to then spend your days on administrative tasks with not even a glimmer of a chance of a
training contract in sight.

We want to attract the latest legal talent out there to nurture and develop your "hands
on" legal skills as intensely and quickly as possible so you can make a real difference to
help our clients and progress your career.

My client is a highly respected law firm specialising in motoring criminal
defence law in the UK. Recognised as industry leaders with offices in Salford and London,
employing a wealth of experience, providing expert legal representation and guidance to
clients.

You will enjoy traditional business hours (no call outs at 3am), competitive salary, bonus and
benefits and the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team who are at the top of their game
in this niche area of law.

Head office is based in Salford, just outside the hub of Media City (within walking
distance of the tram stop if you take public transport or we have free parking directly
outside the office for anyone driving to work). The office is modern, spacious and bright.
We have music playing throughout the day in the open plan area, a comfortable staff room
and an on-site gym, which is free for use by all staff! You can also enjoy hybrid working
1 day a week (subject to passing your probation with us).

Here's the basic details:
Job Title - Paralegal
Hours: 35 hours per week/Monday to Friday 9am-5pm with a flexible 1-hour lunch
break
Salary £20,000 - £25,000 (depending on experience)
Benefits: You can enjoy a range of benefits including, free onsite parking,
discretionary bonus scheme, Life Insurance benefit, Private Healthcare
(tenure based), Pension, Health Cash Plan, Career Progression programme,
Onsite gym, Flexible holiday options, Discount memberships, Savings club,
Charitable support, Casual dress, Wellness programme, Training and
development support, Loyalty incentives and free refreshments. We are
also a real living wage employer.

Here's what makes this opportunity special!
Progression
We know the all-important training contract is the goal for most Paralegals. We offer a
clear route to achieve that goal with training contracts being offered to the vast majority
of Paralegals who pass their probation period at the firm.

Training
We hold the position of the market leader in the niche of motoring law. This is a highly
technical area of criminal law where even the most experienced general crime solicitors
have little knowledge of the various strategies we apply to our cases.
Recognising this, and the importance of ongoing development, the firm has a dedicated
Training Officer (who started out her own legal career with us 12 years ago as a Paralegal
and is now an Associate at the firm and responsible for Compliance and Training of the
Legal team!) who implements interactive training plans from the outset.

Person Requirements
* You will be a calm and considerate team player, technically minded, fearless and
professional, innovative, a real people person with the intellectual desire and skill to
analyse and apply the law to deliver solutions. You will have an abundance of common
sense and highly empathetic approach to client care that makes you stand out from
the crowd.
* Efficiency is important as you will need to be organised and able to work quickly whilst
under pressure and juggling multiple deadlines / priorities;
* You will have a professional attitude and ability to be empathetic, approachable and
non-judgemental of our clients and the allegations they face often including drink
driving and drug driving;
* You will be a confident communicator, both over the telephone and in writing (with
excellent grammar, spelling and attention to detail);
* You will be enthusiastic, resilient and have a can-do attitude and helpful to all team
members;
* You will have an inquisitive mind, use your own initiative to find answers or solve
problems and enjoy considering strategy and research (we like to think outside the
box!); and
* You will be willing to listen, learn, embrace training and improvement of your
knowledge in this niche area.
