Senior Mechanical Design Manager

Red Rock Consultants are currently working with a MEP contractor that offer the design service, from concept to completion based in Leeds.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Manager to join our client's team and take ownership of our mechanical building services division.

This is a rare opportunity to lead and influence at a senior level, with a clear progression path to the board of directors within 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee turnkey projects for hotels, restaurants, sports facilities, leisure centres, care homes, and educational establishments.

* Manage sub-contractors from tender to handover, ensuring programmes and deadlines are met.

* Conduct site surveys, technical reviews, and defect collation for installed works.

* Lead a team of 3 in-house designers and 2 external consultants.

* Support and develop the mechanical division, with a focus on low carbon and renewable technologies.

* Represent the company in client meetings and site visits (2 days on-site, 3 days in-office).

* Ensure compliance with up-to-date rules, regulations, and technical standards.

* Witness and oversee commissioning processes.

* Perform cost control, procurement, and better buying initiatives.

* Develop estimating capabilities and manage budgets effectively.

Candidate Requirements

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

* Strong consultancy background with extensive mechanical building services experience.

* Knowledge of HVAC systems, low carbon, and renewable technologies.

* Familiarity with Broukes, SBends, SPCs, and testing/commissioning processes.
