Job Title - Electrical / Control and Instrumentation Design Engineer
Location - Reading
Contract Length - 12 Months
Pay Rate - Up To £80 hour (Inside IR35)

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design Execution: Deliver electrical, control, and instrumentation designs that meet safety and performance requirements.
  • Legislative Compliance: Maintain a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and standards for electrical engineering and ensure that designs comply with these requirements.
  • Design Application: Ensure designs are created in adherence to relevant legislation, standards, and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce electrical, control, and instrumentation designs addressing defined requirements across the full engineering lifecycle.
  • Ensure designs maintain the intended purpose throughout the lifecycle.
  • Liaise with other disciplines to ensure the overall design intent is maintained across various engineering functions.
  • Ensure all designs comply with Company Assurance, Environmental, Safety, Health, and Quality (ESH&Q) policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Apply engineering best practices while ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
  • Identify potential issues in design or implementation and escalate them to the Principal Engineer.

Qualifications:

  • ONC / OND or equivalent in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • HNC / HND or equivalent in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of legislation and standards relevant to electrical engineering.
  • Proficient in standard office software and engineering tools/applications.
  • Understanding of legislation and standards associated with nuclear or high-hazard facilities is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in producing control and instrumentation designs as part of a multi-discipline design team.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment, preferably nuclear or explosives-related.
