About the Role

As a Shift Team Leader (STL), you'll play a crucial role in driving the performance of our EfW facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations 24/7. Leading a team of skilled operators, you'll be responsible for keeping the plant running smoothly, maximizing output, and ensuring strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Lead & Inspire: Manage your shift team with confidence, ensuring all personnel are motivated, well-trained, and working to their full potential.
✅ Operational Excellence: Oversee plant processes, optimize performance, and troubleshoot issues to maintain smooth operations.
✅ Safety First: Drive a strong HSE culture, ensuring compliance with UK regulations, risk assessments, and emergency protocols.
✅ Environmental Compliance: Work closely with regulatory bodies ensuring all PPC permit conditions are met.
✅ Problem-Solving & Decision Making: Quickly assess and react to operational challenges, minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency.
✅ Performance & Development: Mentor and develop your team, conducting annual performance reviews and providing ongoing support.
✅ Maintenance Coordination: Ensure plant equipment is in top condition, liaising with maintenance teams to address any issues promptly.
✅ 24/7 Responsibility: Be the senior management representative during nights, weekends, and holiday shifts, making key operational decisions.
✅ Housekeeping & Standards: Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment across the site.

What We're Looking For

💡 Experience:

* 5+ years of experience in an EfW plant, power generation, or similar process environment.

* 2-3 years at Shift Team Leader level, with a proven track record in plant operations and team leadership.

* Experience in waste-to-energy, mass burn, or fossil fuel technology is highly desirable.

📚 Qualifications:

* Preferably a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience).

* Strong knowledge of power plant systems, steam cycles, and operational best practices.

* HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) would be an advantage.
