What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will play a key part in the development of the IET’s open access journal portfolio, driving the growth, quality, and impact of several high-profile titles. You will work closely with external editors, editorial boards, and partners to implement strategic development plans for each journal. Your responsibilities will include building and nurturing high-performing editorial boards, proactively commissioning special issues, and working with the editorial and production teams at Wiley to ensure publication targets are met. Additionally, you will contribute to the IET’s mission of promoting open research by sharing best practices, attending scientific conferences, and raising the IET’s profile across the industry. By collaborating with the marketing and journal development teams, you’ll ensure the ongoing relevance, reputation, and success of the IET’s journals in a competitive landscape.

A little more about the role
- Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the IET’s open access journals.
- Manage and oversee several journals, ensuring they meet or exceed targets and objectives.
- Build and support high-performing editorial boards, working closely with them to drive the strategic direction of each journal.
- Commission special issues and key content to enhance journal relevance and impact.
- Collaborate with Wiley’s editorial and production teams to manage article pipelines and meet publication targets.
- Monitor and analyse competitor activity and market trends to inform journal development strategies.
- Attend scientific conferences and events to network, raise the IET’s profile, and increase industry knowledge.
- Work closely with the marketing team to promote journals through various channels.
- Contribute to research integrity investigations and maintain best practices in open access publishing.
- Collaborate with internal IET teams to maximise outreach, visibility, and impact of the journals.
