Tender Planner required for Major National Civil Engineering Contractor specialising in the Highways & Rail Sectors.

This is a fully remote role requiring occasional meetings and interface with colleagues.

Overall Job Purpose:

* To prepare tender programmes and methodology statements in the most efficient and effective manner in accordance with the project requirements, so that any submission provides the maximum opportunity for success for both Octavius and our customers.

* To contribute to the team's understanding of key project risks and developing solutions that enable these risks to be removed, mitigated or managed.

* To explore potential opportunities and alternative methodologies that enhance our chances of success in competitive tenders and add value for our customers. Accountabilities / Responsibilities: Working within the pre-delivery team to provide a service to the relevant business unit leader, the individual will work with stakeholders across the business to maximise successful bids for contracts and ensure future success by:

* Preparing detailed tender programmes for bid submissions that are fully compliant with all contract requirements and that all time related risks are fully understood and communicated to the team.

* Preparing robust and efficient project methodologies, based on current best practice and innovative solutions.

* Resource-loading programmes to enable comparison with estimated resource usage.

* Proactively and promptly identifying temporary works requirements and working with the engineering team to develop solutions.

* Identifying and highlighting project risks and contributing to the tender risk and opportunities register.

The role will also require:

* Establishing and developing high-quality value-added relationships with suppliers and specialists to ensure that the submitted tender programmes take due cognisance of supplier's constraints and construction phasing.

* Providing continuity in project programme, methodology and project constraints to the operational team during the early stages of project implementation.

* Maintaining close liaison with delivery teams on live contracts.

* Maintaining awareness of current best practice and capturing feedback of tender stage programmes and methodology and incorporate learning into new tenders.

* Participating in post-bid reviews to identify lessons learnt and propose improvements to implement.

In order to continually improve you will also:

* Actively seek feedback internally and externally with a consistent focus on what we can do to be more productive and efficient.

* Ensure all decisions are made in line with the Delegated Authority Matrix and Company procedures and policies in particular compliance with the Gateway procedure.

* Persist with business improvement ideas despite other commitments and ensure the business learns from problems solved and incorporates the learning into future procedures.

* Tender stage methodology statements

* Resource-loading and cost-loading programmes as required

* Risk/Opportunity Registers

* Tender stage temporary works schedules

* Cash flow forecasts as required

Experience and knowledge:

* Civil engineering sector (ideal highways and/or rail) projects including time on site

* Knowledge of construction techniques and outputs

* Good IT skills - competent use of current programming software

Qualifications:

Degree or equivalent level academic qualification or relevant experience
