Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join Gallagher as a Programme Manager to support our Programme Director working on a diverse range of change projects.

The projects will focus on ongoing work around insurance regulatory changes, working closely with the senior stakeholders and will be supporting us inbed Consumer Duty inititives. This role with suit an exisiting Programme Manager or Project Manager/Senior Project Manager who has experience with operational and business projects. This is not an IT focussed position.

The successful candidate will be given the autonomy to enable them to take responsibility for shaping and delivering solutions across the Gallagher Global Brokerage UK businesses, will be challenged by the diversity of the Trading Divisions and Enterprise Solutions functions in a top UK broking business and will have the opportunity to build an effective network, including with senior executives. The initial focus will be to drive forward projects within the regulatory and risk change portfolio, working closely with the Programme Director, Business Analyst(s) and Business Leads/Sponsors.

As a Programme Manager, you will drive project delivery, develop solutions and introduce changes to processes and systems, where required, ensuring that they can be embedded into our businesses in a controlled way.

We offer flexible hybrid working and you would be expected in the London office two days a week and the rest would be remote.


How you'll make an impact

  • Working with key Business stakeholders across multiple geographies in order to clarify project objectives, outputs, and timescale, quality and cost criteria; building sustainable relationships to enable the achievement of project objectives
  • Managing the inception and initiation of projects in accordance with the Change Management Framework, defining project approach, resource requirements and estimating project delivery timelines and cost
  • Defining and agreeing project scope, deliverables, timescale, quality, cost and benefits to ensure the business case can be articulated, understood and agreed
  • Defining, establishing and managing the project structure, roles and teams to ensure efficient and effective project delivery
  • Planning, managing, monitoring and reporting on the work of (sometimes disparate) project teams to deliver the outputs to the agreed timescale, quality and cost criteria
  • Producing RAID logs and managing mitigation activities, including ongoing risk assessment
  • Providing leadership, direction and coaching to the project team and to other colleagues where appropriate
  • Working with the Technology team and/or external application vendors to include their costs, activities and deliverables within the overall project scope and approach, providing challenge and support to ensure technology related outcomes are achieved
  • Creating both high level and detailed documents, using a mixture of pictorial and written means (within PowerPoint / Word) in order to effectively communicate with the project team, peers and stakeholders (including Executives and senior managers)

About You

  • Previous experience gained as a Programme Manager, Senior Project Manager or Project Mnager in the general insurance (London Market / Lloyd’s and Industry) is essential.
  • Knowledge of insurance products and services, and in particular a detailed understanding of current regulatory practices such as Consumer Duty would be required.
  • Previous experience working on business/operational change projects will be essential and this is not an IT/Technology focussed role.
  • Excellent knowledge of project management, business improvement and change management methodologies.
  • Demonstrable full life cycle project management experience, along with experience of leading complex, scale, and time-bound projects (including those related to external software vendors)
  • Experience of managing multiple concurrent projects, including projects in the regulatory domain
  • Able to deliver projects / change to agreed outcomes across multiple disparate business divisions / geographies with differing needs and challenges including Information Technology components
  • Decisive leadership in times of ambiguity and evolving business needs with the desire to solve problems coupled with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Confidently builds and sustains a key relationship network at different levels
  • A self-starter, deadline driven; able to set / adjust priorities, including when under timeline pressure
  • Creative problem-solver with the ability to think strategically as well as operate at detailed level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, verbal and written communication with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including Executives and senior level management coupled with the ability to motivate others through good people management skills
  • Ability to negotiate, persuade and influence business decisions across stakeholder groups
  • Ability to respond confidently to conflicts and manage situations positively, proactively escalating issues
