Salary: £100,000 - £110,000 per annum

I am very pleased pleased to be supporting my client in the recruitment of a Tax Manager. This is a permanent role encompassing both Direct & Indirect Tax. My client offer a yearly bonus, pension and 31 days holiday ! Not to mention a very favourable hybrid policy (2 days office 3 home). My client are a global insurance business based in the City of London. Given the nature of the business experience in Insurance or an FCA regulated industry is important so please do not apply if you are outside of those arena's.

Role overview:

  • Ensure all group companies, including those outsourced, have robust and effective governance, processes and controls in place whilst ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Co-ordinating all UK tax processes
  • Identify and manage tax risks within the business tax risk appetite and strategy
  • Provide a central point of contact for all tax-related queries across the group, liaising with advisors and agents where appropriate
  • Lead tax planning processes
  • Assess all projects to identify tax implications and work with the business to ensure alignment with the tax strategy and processes
  • Work with HR colleagues closely on employment tax matters, including stamp duty administration of the employee share scheme, the PAYE Settlement Arrangement, P11Ds, global mobility taxes and international employee working arrangements/queries
  • Work with the Compliance and Underwriting teams to manage permanent establishment risks, as well as withholding tax exposure and compliance
  • Lead day to day external relationships with tax advisors, tax agent and HMRC
  • Keep up to date with international tax developments, including Lloyd's and industry specific issues
  • Continual improvement of tax processes, documentation, and controls

Experience and knowledge required:

  • Proactive - to be able to use own initiative to proactively anticipate challenges and solve problems
  • Flexible and adaptive - to be able to work effectively in a hybrid environmental working with senior stakeholders (both internal & external)
  • Deadline driven with good organisational and time management skills
  • Conscientious, with a strong work ethic and an enquiring mind
  • Technically up to date in both direct and indirect tax legislation
  • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, ATT, CTA)
  • A candidate from a Big Four background would be a preference
  • Insurance industry experience would be preferred
  • If not insurance experience then you will need to come from an FCA regulated industry
