We are delighted to be partnering with Rolls-Royce SMR to recruit a Finance Business Partner - Projects.

In this role you will lead and manage all financial reporting and controlling requirements for long term, multi-million-pound customer contracts and/or development projects (R&D projects) within SMR.

This is a Key role within the SMR organisation, providing financial guidance and expertise to the project team(s) to drive the profitability and to contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of these large-scale projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the financial landscape of the Project EAC, driving the re-forecasting process and shaping annual budgets with precision. Ensure all data is timely and accurate, with key assumptions backed by thorough analysis. Identify and spotlight risks and opportunities, while collaborating on actionable plans to mitigate or capitalise on them. Contribute to the development of project strategies and deliver impactful scenario analyses, providing crucial financial insights that support high-level decision-making.
  • Lead the charge on cash flow management for the project, keeping a sharp eye on variances and proactively addressing potential risks and opportunities. Develop actionable plans to address any issues, ensuring the business stays on track for prompt invoicing and seamless cash receipts, driving cash flow success.
  • Spearhead monthly project percentage completion (POC) accounting in compliance with IFRS15. Take the reins on regular financial performance reporting, partnering closely with the Project Director and team to enhance overall financial outcomes. Lead the push for efficiency, driving the team toward ambitious cost-saving goals and operational excellence.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to support new customer bids, while optimising contract variations, pricing, and invoicing to maximise revenue and cash flow potential. Be a trusted financial partner, helping the business capture new opportunities while safeguarding profitability.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) with at least 5 years' experience, including 2 years post-qualification.
  • Experience in project financial controlling for multi-million pound projects spanning long term periods.
  • Experience preparing budgets and forecasts in a fast-moving business.
  • Strong MS Excel skills; SAP experience is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to provide financial insights and challenge senior stakeholders on financial performance.
