Here at Superhiring, we are on a search for an enthusiastic and driven Children's Support Worker (Nights) to join our Ofsted Regulated LD Children's Home in Eastbourne. We strive to encourage and motivate children, young people and young adults to develop and enhance life skills. We participate in a range of leisure activities, educational interests and social opportunities which offer positive challenges within a safe and structured environment.

Main Duties:

  • To be responsible as a member of the staff team to work on a waking shift in a team of staff to support and meet the needs of the young people in our care and for the direct allocated support.
  • You will be directly working alongside the young people, monitoring and reviewing Care Plans promoting their independence and preparing to make the transition to adulthood and greater independence.
  • You will be taking an active part in providing care & support on a shift work basis. As well as taking an active role in coordinating leisure activities and annual holidays.
  • You will be working in partnership with young people, their families, social workers and carers and other relevant agencies.
  • You administrative work and record keeping associated with key working responsibilities and the daily running of the home.
  • Being confident in managing primary care issues (such as medication and personal care needs), as well as making autonomous decisions about individual young people's requests and behaviour whilst on shift.
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and report these effectively following the homes policy and procedures.


Household Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that the maintenance of the house is at a good standard by caring for all equipment and the overall environment.
  • To be accountable for moneys that have been allocated and spent for specific reasons.
  • Ensuring the young people are eating healthy and balanced meals prepared by staff.
  • Ensuring health and safety checks are complete in line with policies and Ofsted regulations and standards.


What are we looking for?

  • You will need to be willing to develop skills, knowledge and experience, in accordance with a personal development plan.
  • You will be kind caring and compassionate to accommodate for all of the young people's needs.
  • You will have experience in working with children who display challenging behaviour. (For example, severe autism and ADHD)
  • You will be Resilient and be able to manage all challenges in a caring way.
  • You will have completed your Level 3 NVQ in Children's Residential Care and/or hold an equivalent qualification or be willing to work towards it.
  • Enhanced DBS Check or be subject to one should you be successful.
