THE ROLE

Sustainable Finance Specialist Consultant - UK

Position Overview: We are seeking a knowledgeable and results-driven Sustainable Finance Specialist Consultant to support financial institutions and organisations in integrating sustainability into their investment strategies and accessing sustainable finance opportunities. The role requires expertise in sustainability frameworks and demonstrated experience in facilitating access to sustainable finance instruments e.g. green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and ESG-focused investments. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge, consulting experience, and a passion for advancing sustainable finance.

Service Delivery:

• Sustainable Finance Advisory:
  Work with clients, including private equity firms, asset managers, and banks, to design and implement strategies that align with sustainability frameworks e.g. PRI and Equator Principles.

• Facilitation of Sustainable Finance:
  Identify, secure, and facilitate access to sustainable finance opportunities for clients, including structuring green bonds, advising on sustainability-linked loans, and navigating ESG-focused investment options.

• ESG Strategy and Integration:
  Assist clients in embedding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into their financial decision-making, investment portfolios, and lending practices.

• Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management:
  Support clients in complying with relevant regulations and industry standards, ensuring adherence to PRI, Equator Principles, SFDR, EU Green Taxonomy, and climate-related financial disclosures e.g. FCA, IFRS.

• Climate Finance and Decarbonisation:
  Advise clients on opportunities to incorporate climate finance and decarbonisation strategies into their portfolios and projects, including Scope 3 Category 15 Financed Emissions initiatives.

• Data Analysis and Impact Measurement:
  Analyse financial and sustainability data to assess risks, measure impact, and demonstrate the value of sustainable finance initiatives to clients and stakeholders.

• Training and Capacity Building:
  Deliver workshops and training programmes to enhance client understanding of sustainable finance principles and their practical applications.

• Market Research and Innovation:
  Provide insights into emerging trends and innovations in sustainable finance to ensure clients stay ahead in a competitive market.

Client Engagement:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for client interactions related to sustainable finance initiatives.

• Conduct thorough assessments of client's sustainable finance needs, goals, and challenges.

• Provide strategic advice and recommendations tailored to each client's sector and context.

• Create long-term relationships by delivering exceptional service and value.

Project Management:

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of sustainable finance and sustainability/ESG projects within agreed timelines and budgets.

• Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

• Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.

• Maintain high-quality standards in deliverables, ensuring accuracy and adherence to best practices.

Business Development:

• Identify opportunities for expanding Sustainable Finance service offerings and growing the client base.

• Develop compelling proposals and pitches tailored to prospective clients' needs and objectives.

• Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to promote Sustainable Business & ESG Services and initiatives effectively.

• Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and emerging ESG regulations to capitalise on business opportunities.

Experience and Attributes required for the role:

• Degree in Finance, Sustainability, Economics, or a related field

• Certifications in sustainability, ESG, or finance (e.g., CFA ESG Investing) are desirable

• Recent career experience in sustainable finance, ESG consulting, or investment advisory, with a focus on working with financial institutions such as private equity firms, banks, or asset managers.

• Proven track record of facilitating access to sustainable finance instruments, including green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and other ESG-focused investments.

• In-depth understanding of sustainable finance frameworks, e.g. PRI, Equator Principles.

• Familiarity with financial instruments, ESG metrics, and impact measurement methodologies.

• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience in ESG data analysis and financial risk assessment.

• Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
