Position: Engineering Manager
Location: Bedfordshire

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee all engineering activities, ensuring seamless integration across controls, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
Develop and implement best practice engineering processes and procedures to enhance business performance.
Provide strategic direction to the engineering department, aligning it with the overall business goals.
Identify business challenges and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
Establish and maintain engineering policies, guidelines, and associated documentation.
Drive innovation by developing creative engineering systems and solutions.
Offer technical support to sales, projects, and service departments.
Manage all aspects of system design from contract award through to commissioning.
Lead the preparation, review, and issue of technical documentation.
Plan and prioritize engineering resources to ensure optimal delivery to customer specifications.
Ensure new equipment and activities are supported with appropriate qualification documentation and securely stored.
Maintain up-to-date drawings through PDM and ERP systems.
Coordinate with manufacturing to ensure products are manufacturable while maintaining quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Regularly report engineering activities to the Senior Management team, ensuring accurate and timely updates on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety, engineering, and quality standards and procedures.
Set quality and reliability standards by benchmarking industry practices and customer requirements, defining metrics to assess performance against these standards.
Collaborate with the group design and engineering team to develop AX, Vault, and CAD integration projects.
Lead and develop the engineering department, coaching and mentoring direct reports to build a high-performing team focused on continuous improvement and value engineering.
Establish departmental objectives and rigorously monitor progress to achieve established goals.
Facilitate strong communication across teams to promote the exchange of information and drive improvements.
Develop the appropriate organizational structure, resource plans, and culture to support business objectives and customer deliverables.
Work with the Engineering team to translate company strategy into specific annual performance goals and departmental objectives, including KPIs, and ensure they are tracked effectively.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of engineering design best practices, including calculations.
Proficient in Autodesk Inventor or a comparable 3D CAD package.
Solid understanding of project management principles.
Experience working with Vault.
Excellent technical problem-solving skills.
Highly organized, structured, and outcome oriented.
Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
Customer-focused approach.
Proactive, with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to meet deadlines
