GSL Education is looking for a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to support primary school children with autism spectrum disorders in Sunderland.

Job Summary:The main role of an ASD (autism spectrum disorder) Teaching Assistant in a primary school is multifaceted and crucial in supporting the educational and social development of students with autism.

Key Responsibilities:

Support ASD students in understanding and engaging with lessons.
Work closely with classroom teachers to adapt materials and activities according to student needs.
Foster a nurturing and supportive learning environment.
Assist in the development of social skills and independence in students.
Requirements:

Experience supporting children with ASD or similar needs.
Understanding of the educational strategies and communication methods used in supporting students with special needs.
Patience, creativity, and a commitment to child development.
Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful candidates must satisfy all background checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
