Reed Procurement are delighted to be working with a Manufacturing and supply company in the Thurrock area. We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager / Route planner to join their successful company.

As the new Transport Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the coordination and direction of transport system-related operations.  As this is a stand-alone role it is essential that you have a full understanding of weights & measurements to ensure the vehicles are loaded safely and securely.

Duties will include;

• Route Planning
• Planning drivers and resources to meet work demands
• Overseeing the drivers and loading team
• Ensuring that the Company's fleet of vehicles is operating in accordance with legislation and regulations.
• Managing Drivers hours and ensuring mandatory requirements are up to date
• Managing strict vehicle maintenance and servicing schedules to minimise downtime.
• Maintaining accurate and detailed records of vehicle inspections and services.
• Monitoring fleet cost and ensuring they stay within budget

The successful candidate will have

• Understanding of weights and measurement’s
• Full understanding of current commercial vehicle legislation
• An understanding of loading and unloading of flatbed lorries
• Full understanding of route planning and driver’s hours
• CPC License would be an advantage
• Ability to work within a high-pressured environment
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
