MMP Consultancy is seeking a Class 3/4 Building Control Team Manage on behalf of a North London based Local Authority, to manage and deliver a high-quality Building Control service. The successful candidate will serve as the principal technical adviser and be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Building Acts and Building Regulations.

This is initially a 3-month contract subject to extension. The successful candidate will be expected in the office 2 days per week, with site visits as and when required. The rate of pay is £550pd inside of IR35.

Key Responsibilities:
* Manage a team of up to 15 Building Control professionals, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
* Serve as the Council's expert on Building Control matters, ensuring adherence to Building Acts and Regulations.
* Make critical decisions as a District Surveyor within an approved scheme of delegation.
* Manage budgets, monitor income and expenditure, and ensure financial efficiency.
* Develop and implement innovative procedures to improve service delivery, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
* Recruit, train, and mentor staff, encouraging professional development within the team.
* Lead the development and expansion of partnership schemes, identifying business opportunities to generate income.
* Lead on enforcement actions, including dangerous structures, and represent the Council in court cases and public hearings.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
* In Building Control, with corporate membership of ABE, RICS (Building Control), or equivalent.
* Class 3 and 4 registration.
* Proven experience managing a team, monitoring workloads, and achieving performance targets.
* Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, Fire Safety, CDM, structural safety, and relevant legislation.
* Experience managing budgets, reviewing income, and forward planning.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to negotiate effectively and represent the Council in legal and technical matters.
* Ability to handle complaints and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
