Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Nursing - Safeguarding to provide senior leadership and management for Adult Safeguarding and Learning Disabilities within our Trust. This is a key strategic role within the Corporate Nursing Division, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective safeguarding services while driving compliance with statutory regulations and best practices.

As a senior leader, you will work closely with the Associate Director of Nursing for Safeguarding, supporting the implementation of safeguarding policies, governance frameworks, and quality improvement initiatives across the organisation. You will also be responsible for workforce management, budget oversight, and ensuring safeguarding compliance across all services.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Governance:

* Shape the strategic direction of the safeguarding service in collaboration with senior leadership.

* Ensure compliance with CQC standards, risk management, and quality governance requirements.

* Provide assurance to the Trust Board and ICB through regular reporting, including annual safeguarding reports.

* Represent the Trust at Local Safeguarding Partnerships and multi-agency safeguarding meetings.

* Lead on safeguarding reviews, investigations, and audits, ensuring lessons learned are implemented.

Service Delivery & Performance Management:

* Oversee the delivery of high-quality safeguarding services, ensuring adherence to legal frameworks.

* Lead the Safeguarding Nurse Specialist team, ensuring professional standards and workforce development.

* Act as Chair of the Adults and Learning Disabilities Operational Group, ensuring safeguarding action plans are monitored and concerns escalated.

* Develop and implement policies for recognition and response to all forms of abuse and neglect, including domestic abuse and extrafamilial harm.

Training & Workforce Development:

* Oversee the design and delivery of safeguarding training programmes, ensuring compliance with national guidelines.

* Act as a senior clinical advisor to directorates, providing expert safeguarding guidance and support.

* Support the recruitment, training, and development of the specialist safeguarding team.

Financial & Operational Management:

* Manage and be accountable for safeguarding budgets and financial planning.

* Ensure that safeguarding resources are used efficiently to support Trust-wide safeguarding initiatives.

Key Requirements:

* Registered Nurse (NMC) with significant safeguarding experience at a senior level.

* Proven leadership and management experience within a safeguarding setting.

* Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and governance frameworks.

* Experience in developing and implementing safeguarding strategies across healthcare settings.

* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at a senior level.

* Ability to work autonomously, manage complex caseloads, and support multi-agency safeguarding partnerships
