Situation

Ford & Stanley Recruitment are partnered with a nationwide construction contractor on their search for an additional Quantity Surveyor to join their team. Due to the bespoke and niche nature of their product, our client is winning new contracts and requires additional heads to ensure all projects are completed on budget to facilitate further growth and expansion.

The successful candidate will be commercially astute and have previous experience with managing Contracts or within Project Management.

Key Responsibilities

Be responsible for providing effective financial and contractual control of the projects that are being managed.
Strive to maximise profitability by identifying ways to reduce costs or add value to projects.
Accurate, timely and fair measurement of site operatives. Note the company utilises price work operatives wherever possible, and the management of these resources is crucial.
Provide support to the Site Agents and Engineers by identifying varied and additional works, and maximising recovery for these from our client.
Maintain records, measures and produce monthly applications for payment for each project
Produce take offs to assist with estimating and bulk material quantity ordering when required.
Produce monthly reports for the Commercial Manager
Keep up to date with developments in quantity surveying and strive to make the business more efficient and effective.

Location:

Derby main office (1-2 days per week) remainder will be on site (projects mainly based in Leeds & Sheffield)

Salary:

Up to £55,000 (dependent on experience) + company car (or car allowance) + bonus after 6 months' probation.

Agreed criteria to secure an interview:

Experienced quantity surveying background
Happy travelling to onsite locations (Yorkshire, Birmingham and occasional further travel)
Experience working for either a main contractor or sub-contractor,
Experience in measuring site operatives
Experience working on JCT & NEC
