Senior Systems Engineer

Location - Gillingham, Kent (hybrid working with 2-3 days in the office)

Salary - Highly competitive DOE

We have a fantastic opportunity in Gillingham for a Senior Systems Engineer to work for one of our clients. In this role you will be working Monday - Thursday 8am-4.30pm with 30 minute lunch break. Fridays 8am-1pm with no break.

Our client is a leading global manufacturer with an exceptional reputation, specialising in advanced technologies.

Responsibilities for the role of Senior Systems Engineer

  • Designing control algorithms & strategies (using Matlab Simulink/Stateflow), and autogenerating code for production intent software
  • Designing system diagnostics and CAN communication specifications
  • Developing validation tests for electrical test bench, HiL and vehicle
  • Development of functional safety strategies to EGAS standard
  • Capturing and analysing customer requirements
  • Provide expertise for investigations and problem-solving activities
  • Supporting the customer’s engine and vehicle testing
  • Supporting system and hardware FMEA
  • Guide systems engineers and peers
  • Other duties as deemed reasonable

Skills and Experience for the role of Senior Systems Engineer

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in developing real-time embedded systems
  • Understanding of Matlab Simulink and Stateflow
  • Use of CCP calibration tools (e.g. INCA, ATI Vision, CANape)
  • Understanding of sensors and actuators (analogue, digital, H-Bridge, CAN-based, SENT)
  • Understanding of CAN, UDS and J1939 protocols
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 supplier in the automotive industry
  • Experience in a production intent auto-coding environment
  • Experience of testing on bench, HiL or vehicle
  • CAN Tools (e.g. Vector toolchain)
  • Activity management tools (e.g. Jira)
  • Understanding of source code (C language)
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Educated to degree level in engineering or equivalent
  • ASPICE V3.1 awareness
  • ISO26262 awareness
