Temporary Accommodation Procurement Manager - Local Authority, London - Day Rate: £350 Umbrella

We are recruiting for a Temporary Accommodation Procurement Manager to work with a Local Authority client in London. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dynamic team within the Allocations & Lettings department, managing procurement and the delivery of temporary accommodation services.

Role Purpose:

Oversee the procurement and management of temporary accommodation, ensuring properties meet legal, health & safety standards.
Build and maintain effective relationships with property providers and stakeholders to secure and renew suitable accommodation.
Manage voids, repairs, and landlord liaison, ensuring timely lettings and tenancy management.
Lead on contract management, ensuring supplier compliance, cost-efficiency, and rigorous performance monitoring.
Work with internal teams to address homelessness and move clients into permanent or alternative housing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the procurement of temporary accommodation across a range of property types, ensuring compliance with legislation and council standards.
Monitor contracts with suppliers, including negotiating leases, handling renewals, and ensuring effective property maintenance.
Collaborate with finance teams to manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective procurement and minimising expenditure on temporary housing.
Support innovative initiatives to increase affordable housing supply and manage 'move-on' programs to reduce reliance on temporary accommodation.
Liaise with landlords and the Council's anti-fraud team to prevent fraudulent activity within the temporary accommodation sector.

Qualifications & Skills:

Proven experience in temporary accommodation procurement and management.
Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams in a housing environment.
In-depth knowledge of housing law, particularly around homelessness, tenancy management, and landlord-tenant legislation.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including property providers, legal teams, and council members.
Ability to manage budgets and deliver cost-saving initiatives.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
