Our client manufactures electro coating lacquers, which are a high-quality water based primer applied to a metal surface, providing the painted surface with excellent corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties and high chemical resistance. It can be colour treated to produce a decorative finishing used in applications such as jewellery, door fittings, furniture, lamps, and fashion accessories.

An opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated chemist to undertake Quality Control (QC) testing at their site in the midlands. This position would be suited to a recent graduate looking for their first career move into industry. There are excellent career prospects where the role could evolve into formulating new products.

Responsibilities;

* Quality Control testing and analysis of production samples and key raw materials.

* Quality Control and analysis of customer samples

* Support to manufacturing e.g., Non-conformance Reports (NCRs).

* Assistance with customer complaints investigations.

* Assistance with calibration of equipment.

* Colour matching

* Ensuring all tasks are undertaken safely and in a timely manner.

* Maintaining good housekeeping and tidying of the laboratory.

* Assistance with raw material evaluations, product improvement and development.

Candidate profile

* Preferably degree qualified in Chemistry or related subject, or having worked in a similar role in a similar industry.

* Well organised and methodical but with a creative and flexible approach.

* Must be computer literate with excellent verbal and written skills and be comfortable working on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

* A full driving licence is a mandatory requirement as some external site visits and testing will be required.

Working hours; Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm, though after a sufficient training period, the company can offer a more flexible working arrangement.
