Our client is seeking a General Manager to join their team, based in Zambia. The General Manager will develop and execute our client's commercial strategy, driving revenue growth, market expansion, and brand equity. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will oversee and integrate the supply chain, sales, and marketing functions—ensuring these teams work effectively to meet business objectives. It is important to note, the General Manager will lead the supply chain team through a critical transition from an internally run distribution model to an outsourced approach, effectively managing external distributor relationships and ensuring a seamless model transition. This individual must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and approach challenges with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities:

  •  Develop and implement a unified commercial strategy aligned with our client's overall business goals and financial targets.

  • Manage the commercial P&L, setting and achieving revenue, margin, and profitability objectives.

  • Identify growth opportunities, market trends, and partnerships that enhance brand reach and competitive advantage.

  • Lead the supply chain, sales, marketing, and business intelligence data teams, ensuring seamless coordination and execution across all functions.

  • Set performance targets, monitor key metrics, and drive accountability within each team to achieve objectives.

  • Collaborate with Production, Finance and other key departments to align initiatives, forecasts, and resource allocation.

  • Oversee the shift from an internally managed distribution system to an outsourced model with local distributors.

  • Establish and manage relationships with distribution partners, ensuring service levels, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.

  • Implement change management strategies to support the supply chain team during the transition, providing training, clear communication, and guidance.

  • Oversee the business intelligence data team to ensure robust data collection, analysis, and interpretation of market trends and consumer behavior.

  • Leverage data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions across supply chain, sales, marketing, and pricing strategies.

  • Foster a culture of evidence-based decision-making, continuously improving methodologies and tools used to understand market dynamics.

  • Recruit, train, and develop high-performing teams.

  • Implement career development plans, training programs, and performance management frameworks to support professional growth and retention.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, ensuring that employees are engaged and empowered to excel in a rapidly changing environment.
