Procurement and Stock Controller

Based in Hull

£28k to £30k per annum DOE

Monday to Friday 8.30 - 17.00 plus 1 in 3 Saturdays

The post holder will provide support to the commercial sales director, to help maintain the company's correct stock levels, reordering items according to business needs and implementing purchases, audits, and transfers.

The role is to ensure most efficient product buying procedures are followed company-wide, correct products and accurate stock levels are maintained across all sites.

To ensure that all suppliers are reliable, meet our criteria and product quality is to the required level. Products and suppliers are chosen to achieve maximum margins/profitability and to customer requirements

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Manage group purchasing of stock products to ensure the correct product quality and best price are maintained ensuring required margin levels are achieved.
  • Coordinates stock control operations with warehouse staff, as well as the sales and finance departments.
  • To develop a group database of suitable suppliers for the company to purchase from and negotiate with new and existing suppliers to ensure we receive the best terms possible.
  • Maintain the stock systems are correct to ensure that data and prices, purchasing and selling prices are up to date and accurate within agreed parameters and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development of pricelists and specific customer price matrix's / contracts.
  • Manage stock transfers, ensure it is done in an efficient and economical way
  • Manage inventory and stock control company-wide to ensure that accurate stock valuations are maintained. Establish correct stock control systems and picking routines for all sites.
  • Review the company's inventory software to check products are available for up and coming sales orders.
  • Complete bi-weekly inventory inspections - dates, locations, labels, identification, inventory, slow moving, housekeeping, etc
  • Review suppliers to ensure the uninterrupted availability of stock.
  • Oversees stock storage processes, including tagging, boxing, labeling, correct location and bin locations
  • Forecast supply and demand to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock
  • Verify goods received and confirm purchase contents and orders are complete.
  • Maintain accurate record of inventory and stock management systems according to set standards
